Whether you’ve tried them out in the past, or are looking to buy your first set of vacuum seal storage bags, you’re certainly looking at the perfect time. There are lots of different kinds of these products out there today, great for storing bulky items, sweaters sheets, bedding and any type of clothes that need to be put away (think Winter, Summer, etc). In very basic terms, a vacuum seal storage bag is really quite simple. It’s basically like a durable plastic bag, which comes in a few different sizes. Commonly, small, medium, large and x-large are the available designs. They also have a few different kinds for traveling, and larger ones to accommodate other shapes and sizes.

To start off, it’s best to organized everything really well. If you’re putting away your summer clothes for the winter for example, start by folding the t-shirts, shorts, collared shirts and any other items you’d like to store away into an organization style that you prefer. It could be by color, or simply by what type of clothes they are. This will save you a ton of time after you’re done storing them. After all, you’re not going to be able to see what’s in each bag that well when they’re all sealed up and pancaked down. It’s also a good time to write out a tag to put on the outside of the space saving bag. This will make it super easy to quickly look, and see what is in each storage bag.

Next, it’s time to get out the bags, and start organizing how you’ll be using them. Finding the right size and putting the right amount of clothing articles in each one is important. Each vacuum seal storage bag will have a fill line on them. It’s vital to not fill them up past that point. If you do, they won’t be able to seal properly, defeating the purpose of these ingenious products in the first place.

Once you put in the clothes you’d like to store, it’s time to seal it up with the zipper. Once it’s secured, it’s time to grab the vacuum. Plug it in, and grab the attachment. Once you have the vacuum on, place the tip of it inside of the seal port, and begin to suck the air out of the compartment. Once you’ve sucked most of the air out, quickly take the vacuum nozzle out and close the seal. Some brands of space bags seal themselves, which is much easier to use at this point.

And, voila, whatever you chose to put away into storage is ready to store. Don’t forget to organize your clothing well before placing them in the bags, or else you’ll have a really hard time finding what you need when you go to get them out of storage.
