When we first got word of the name of this line of products, our initial thought was of a space age, high-tech gadget. Once we picked up our own though, we realized that the “space” in the name is definitely a reference to how much of that certain something that you don’t have in your unorganized closets. The space saver bag is quite a simple concept. You take all of the unnecessary items from your closet, like spare blankets, out-of-style clothes you keep around in case the 80’s come back, and the usual this and that that just doesn’t get used on a daily or even weekly basis, and fill up the bags with them. Zip it closed, take any household vacuum that you may have and suck the air out of it. The space bags are airtight, water-proof and totally reusable. The space saver bag kit comes with a combo set of bags, which includes one mid-size bag (able to fit up-to 5-6 bulky items in it), a large (fits approximately 10 bulky sweater-type items) and an extra large bag with the ability to fit a queen size bed set and two pillows inside. Although, as long as you stuff the bags up until the fill line, you should easily be able to gauge how many items can truly fit in them.

There are also several other manufacturers that make similar products, and generally go in sets of four or more bags, in typically two sizes: 18” x 23” (large) and 14” x 20” (medium)

Preparing Your Clothes For Storage

How many times have you thought to yourself, “Wow, we really don’t have much storage in here.” Sadly, this is the case in many different situations. Although, the solution is usually much easier than you think. By clearing out older, out of season clothes, you can easily bring your closet back to an organized, impressive piece of your décor. An essential part of keeping your home neat and clean is properly making the most out of small storage space. We’ve found that the easiest way is to use a storage solution like space saving bags, also referred to as space bags. These vacuum seal, airtight bags conveniently compress large, bulky clothing and garments, easily tripling your storage space with just a little bit of effort.

Start out by inventorying your closet, to find the items you’ll least likely be wearing until next year. A great choice is winter-wear, seasonal dresses, scarves, sweaters and gloves.

Finally, using the attachment nozzle on your household vacuum, remove the excess air from the space bag to compress the clothing down. The bag should be relatively flat once you removed all of the air, depending on how tightly you packed the bag. From here, it’s a good idea to attach some sort of note, or reminded, so you can easily tell what is inside the bag. Now, simply store the bag where you have the space.
